first time Tanning Advice.?
so i want to go to the Tanning Bed for prom. im wearing a bright pink dress, so i have to be tan.
i need some first timers advice, how much should i go? how long? what is the procedure? anything i should know.
anything you can tell me would be great. thanks all.
First timer on a Sunbed eh?
I work in a beauty Salon which has a fast tan sunbed which works by going on it 3, 6 or 9mins at a time. You can buy sunbed courses of 30mins up to about 90+mins, and you just go in and just say you want to use say 3mins of the course you have paid for and it is just taken off each amount left. You might need to fill out a card at your nearest salon before you start using it.
I suggest, if you go on a fast tan sunbed, to start of with a few 3minute sessions, just to help you and your skin get used to the heat. Once you feel comfortable enough with going on for 3mins, you can move up to 6mins and then after a few of those sessions, move up to 9. But I do recommend you only go on every other day if you can. Everyday isn’t good for your skin.
Sunbeds are also great to build up a base tan before you go on holiday abroad as it prevents you from burning so quickly and easily.
There are sunbed creams you can use, most which help to enhance and prolong your tanning by about 55% also keeping your skin moisturised at the same time. Try not to use any creams with Bronzers in as they have a tendency to leave you slighty streaky.
The main contra-indications of using a sunbed are:
•Sunburnt skin
•Having used a sun-bed already in the last 24 hours
•Clients with conditions made worse by UV light or light
•Skin Cancer
•Pregnancy
•Epilepsy
So check these over first and double check at your nearest salon that has a sunbed for further contra-indications they go by.
But overall, despite the things you hear about sunbeds, they are a great way to build up a natural real tan gradually without using the fake tans that only give you colour for about a week. Doctors even recommend them to people who suffer from psoriasis and other skin conditions.

whats the best on-line site to buy Indoor Tanning lotion?
I’ve heard some sites add cheap lotion to the real stuff, how can I be sure I’m not getting ripped off? The lotions i use cannot be bought at any Salons where I live so I have no other option than buying on-line
You can never be sure. I have purchased several lotions from eBay. Most of the lotion sellers are Salon owners. Your local salon owner wants you to purchase from them. That is why they tell you not to trust lotions purchased from an “outside source”. They make their profits selling lotion, not from selling Tanning Packages.
If you purchase from an eBay seller, look at their feedback. Those that have thousands of positive feedbacks are the ones to make your purchases from.
Could i tan?
I am interested in Tanning, but fact is i am pretty pal I have the strawberry blonde hair and the freckles. I have a friend that works at a Tanning Salon and says I could tan, but I am just not to sure. I dont want to burn nor do I want my freckles to get darker. I really want to be able to wear shorts and skirts this summer but right now I am just to pale to do it! From experience I can’t use the Sunless Tanning Supplies I turn orange. So what should I do?
If you decide to use a Tanning Booth, (solarium) then make sure you use a tan accelerator to help your skin produce melanin. It speeds up the tanning process and means you don’t need to spend so long in the solarium – hence less skin damage. Also, only use the solarium for half the time for the first few sessions, or use a lower UV bed, this way you won’t burn and you can watch your skin for any problems.
I hope you know though, solariums are really bad for your skin, and you should never use them for long periods of time.
There are tan products available that won’t make you turn orange, like St. Tropez mousse bronzer (it’s great) and provided you don’t get a Cheap Tanning solution, you shouldn’t turn orange at all.

24 would be good … not need 32 .. and 16 seems not clear enough for me!
Why are blacks criticised for skin-bleaching, but whites aren’t for Tanning?
I am from Australia, and white, and have seen episodes of shows and other media where blacks have bleached their skin, and get so criticised for it. Yes, it is bad and self-hating, but what about whites who get their skin tanned? Isn’t that just as bad? Why aren’t they criticised? I’m not defending skin-bleaching, I just don’t understand the double standard. I am white, and proud. I would never tan my skin.
i would say because skin bleaching deals with chemicals that are even more direct to danger because they absorb into the skin and seep below causing harmful things. escpeically if it is one of the products containing mercury.
but tanning is bad too because it can lead to Skin Cancer.
and also i guess its because many white ppl tan, so its become a norm.
but bleaching isnt heard of by too many people so its more of a shocker
is it ok to go Tanning at a Salon while pregnant?
ive been going tanning at a salon for a while now and i have gotten a few different answers on this. is there arnyone who has gone Tanning While Pregnant? did anything happen? i was told its ok as long as i dont over heat because Uv Rays dont penetrate skin and harm the fetus.
My wife tried this, and she gave birth to a black baby. (We’re both white.) It was something to do with the melanin of her and the fetus.
