Light-weight, mineral oil-free body lotions with SPF?

I am in the minority of people who thinks that pale, translucent skin is prettier than tanned, leathery skin. However, my partially-Italian roots soak up every ray of sun, especially in the summer. Most lotions with SPF that I have come across have a thick consistency comparable to sunscreen. What are some body lotions for normal skin that do not contain mineral oil or petrolatum that are good for keeping the tan away during the summer?

Vichy capital soleil does good sunscreens, and you can get fluid ones which are light and there are a range of spf’s from 15-50 i think.
garnier ambre solaire moisturising protection milk is light and non greasy.
palmers cocoa butter now have an spf15 version of their lotion as well.

What are your predictions for the Year of the Tiger?

According to the Chinese Horoscope, 2010 will be the year of the Metal Tiger, and Singapore’s famous Feng Shou Master Tan Khoon Yong says:

“In Tiger Year, everybody’s is quite hot tempered and emotionally impulsive…”

.. but what does this mean for the year ahead? Give me your take on the Chinese Horoscope!

PS. Humorous horoscopes are most welcomed ;)

Thanks!

I have one 100% true prediction: I will go yet ANOTHER year without having a girlfriend.

I’m 28 and have never had one.

Tanning lotion/sunscreen?

I bouth some tanning stuff, it has sunblock in it and its supposed to help build a tan in the sun while still protecting you….. so is this product like using Tanning Lotion the kind you put on as lotion and it builds you a tan and leaves you streaky, or is this just like burning in the un then getting a tan just without the burn part? the product i bought is called – hawaiian tropic golden tanning lotion with sunscreen. for the natural tan of the islands water proof protection 6 fator.- get the question? lol

the lotion itself is not going to make you tan. the sun will still be tanning you, and the sunscreen in it isn’t really going to do anything. this is just a gimmick to make you feel like you are “tanning safely” (you CANNOT tan safely).

How long should I tan for using a stand up Booth(never have been Tanning)?

I have NEVER used a Tanning Bed/booth before. I am very fair and burn at the beach often but it turns tan after. Im really scared that I am going to burn and I have heard that stand up Booths are stronger than beds so I don’t have to go as long. I was thinking about starting out at 2 minutes and working my way up to prevent burning. I WILL choose a best answer. (please do not tell me about Skin Cancer and Sunless tanning)

They are not safe, you should just use a Self Tanner. I use dove moisteriser, with a gradual tanning. It says gradual tanning but it comes up really well, even after 2 days!!! Its only around £5 in beauty shops. But if you are completely sure about using the stand up Tanning Sessions then i would recommend 2-3 minutes, my friend used to go on them and she went on for 3 minutes and there was a lot of difference. There is no need to go on for longer- waste of money! :)

Tanning help?

Would you recommend Sunless Tanning Booths. How does the process go? Would you get an even tan?
Tell me how the process goes please.
I just want a temporary one for homecoming.

I love how everyone seemed to miss the word “sunless” in your question. haha But anyway….

I work at a Tanning Salon and we have the Magic Tan Spray Tan Booth. It kind of looks like a walk in shower and on the back half of the booth, it has 36 spray nozzles. First you put on a shower cap to keep your hair from getting sprayed. You also put on barrier cream which is for the places where you dont want to get tan.

Then, once you get in you press a button and it starts. It sprays you from the bottom up starting with the front, then you switch positions. There are four different positions-front, back, side, side. There is a slight pause between each position and it takes as little as 60 seconds to do.

That’s how our sunless booth works. Some other brands may be a little different on how it sprays but for the most part they’re pretty standard and cost around 20 dollars for a single session.

It lasts for about a week and you can’t shower for 5-7 hours after you do it in order for the solution to soak in. Also, make sure you’ve exfoliated well before you do it.

I’ve done it a couple times and it looks great-it’s even and you get great color from it! Good luck!

How should fair skinned people tan?

I went to Desert Sun today and got the 49.95 package [Conventional and Medium beds unlimited] I also bought the #1 Tanning lotion called “Masquerade”. I plan to tan in the medium bed 3 days a week for 9 minutes. I have always had fair skin and I tried the conventional beds and it just doesn’t work for me. I want to have a really nice dark tan by June 30th [the start of MY bikini season lol] Does anyone know if this should be good? and I do realize everyone is different lol

yes that sounds good.Make sure if you start to get too hot in the bed or have any redness the next day to take the time down a bit. Go every other day til you get a good base tan. Always use your lotion and drink lots of water. After the first week if you do not burn increase your time to tenminutes and slowly continue to move up.

What is a good, Cheap Indoor Tanning Lotion?

right now i use swedish beauty dangerously dark & that costs like $40! it’s getting 2 expensive. what r GOOD Tanning Lotions that r also 15-20 dollars? anything cheaper is good 2. and does it matter the brand that you use? do the $5 ones work as good as the $40 ones? i do NOT like the “tingle” lotions. a bronzer would b good. idc if its from walmart or something from the Salon, as long as its good & cheap….although i dont think my salon would carry $15 lotions.

We used to own a salon with Tanning Beds (wife did nails).

The only difference between any moisturizing lotion (Jergens, Suave, etc.) and “tanning” lotions are that tanning lotions don’t have any chemicals that fog up, or gum-up the acrylic in the Tanning Bed (and pi$$-off the salon owners when that happens). Other than that, all tanning lotions (for tanning beds) are the same, except for “gimmicks” like tingle, and skin coloring agents (bronzing).

Just get the cheapest bottle you can find.
